Bright Sunlight Could Mean Trouble For Your Eyes

Oct 01, 2013

Reduce the risk of developing cataracts by protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays. When purchasing sunglasses, look for glasses with lenses labeled UV400. This means that the lenses block almost 100% of the harmful rays. Also remember that the design of the frame is important. Researchers at John Hopkins and others have reported that as much as 20 percent of UV light can reach the eyes by coming in through the sides of sunglasses. Be sure to look for sunglasses that wrap around the face.
